Antique Victorian Sterling Silver Footed Salver by Edward Barnard EEJWB c. 1837For your consideration is this Important antique Victorian Sterling Silver Footed Salver/Tray by Edward Barnard EEJWB c. 1837.
The tray is in wonderful condition with no dings, dents or repairs. There is normal light surface scratches as shown in pictures. There is a monogramed Crest as shown in pictures, it reads At Spes Non Fracta (But Hope Is Not Lost). The tray measures 13.50", it is 2" tall and weighs 1225.2 grams or 39.39 troy oz.
The makers Edward Edward Jr John & William Barnard origin is possibly the oldest manufacturing silversmith in the world, originally established by Anthony Nelme c. 1680. Connection with the Barnard family can be traced from 1773. Operated as Edward Barnard & Sons 1829-1910, this is a very early piece with the date code 1837.
