Gorham Sterling Silver Oval Gadroon Edge Double Handle Serving / Tea Tray 21"
Presented is a superb quality Gorham sterling silver serving tray, dated 1948.
The tray is oval in form, with handles at either end. The rim of the tray is
done in a bold gadroon design, with further gadroon and acanthus decoration on
the handles. The tray is a good large size, perfectly suitable for many serving
purposes, including holding full size 5 or 6 piece tea sets. The tray is very
well crafted from thick, heavy gauge sterling silver, exactly as you'd expect
from the Gorham name.
The tray is stamped sterling as well as Gorham, the date mark for 1948, a
product number of 57, and the width of the tray, 21 inches.
This piece is in excellent overall condition. There is minor surface wear
commensurate with age and use, which could be polished out professionally. There
are no splits, no dents, no breaks, no monograms, no monogram removals, and no
repairs.
The tray measures about 25 by 16 inches, including the handles, or about 21
inches without the handles. The useable surface area is about 19 by 14 inches.
The tray weighs 2567 grams or 90.5 regular ounces.
