ITEM DESCRIPTION:
Back in the early 1970's I rescued an abandoned Irish Setter dog. She had a slight twitch, in her rear leg, that the Vet said was probably the result of having had distemper. My mother fell in love with the dog instantly so I allowed her to keep "Babe" as her own. As time went by, the twitch gradually faded until it disappeared completely.
Anyway, one of my mother's sisters found these bronze, Irish Setter bookends, in an antique store, and gave them to her as a gift. One of them stands straight but the other has been bent slightly, somewhere along the line. It was like that, when my mother received it, and there is no way in hell I'm going to risk breaking it trying to straighten it out!
The pieces are about 6" long, 3-1/2" tall and 1-3/4" wide at the base. The bases are marked "REAL 9656 BRONZE". I don't know if the 9656 designates a mold number or some type of bronze. There are no other marks that I can see. There may be additional marks under the felt, that covers the bottom of the bases, but I have no desire to find out. There is some surface color wear from normal handling. Even so, I would still consider the condition to be very good. Please use the photos to judge the condition for yourself.
They probably date to around the 1930's, give or take.

ALSO Please Note:
Almost all of the items I offer are different sizes and weights. I'm on the N. East Coast so shipping can vary from relatively reasonable, here on the East, to obscenely expensive as you move Westward or to the South! There are too many confusing shipping options to offer here so I just use one or two. Please be advised: I may, at my discretion, use something other than those listed.
Thanks.
